Our New House
Current Status
June 21st - We finally closed and got the keys today. Woo-Hoo!
There was of course a last minute snag the held us up another
24 hours, but it all finished up today. We had dinner in the
house (Udon noodle) in front of a roaring fire in the
fireplace, moved some stuff in, and made some calls. And the
grill is starting to show up. Next the big housewarming BBQ.
June 5th - Finance Contingency removed. The only way out of
buying the house now would be expensive. We should close on
June 20th, and the movers are coming on June 28th. Looks like
we will be homeowners. Now we need to plan when we are going
to have the big house warming welcome BBQ. I think I have
picked out the grill I need to get.
May 15th - Radon test came back, looks good got a 1.9. So we
removed that contingency.
May 13th - Added pictures of the upstairs bathroom and the back
room. The bedroom shots I took were pretty horrible, next time I
am in the house I'll try to get better ones.
May 12th - Did the house inspection. found some minor problems
with the roof and back windows of the house. Attempting to get a
break in the price rather than have the seller fix them. Working
on application to mortgage company. Megan has been cheking out
moving rates. Not completely unreasonable.
May 8th - Talked with the mortgage company, and have nearly picked
out what exact mortgage we will get and the rate. Probably going to
do a double mortgage. On Thursday we will do the the house inspection
including pest and radon. Chatted with an insurance rep about
homeowner's insurance. Should be pretty reasonable.
May 7th - We countersigned (or "bottomlined") the changes they
wanted in the contract. So the timers in the contract have
started ticking. We need to get the house inspected /
apprasied / pest-inspected / radon tested in the next couple
of weeks.
May 4th - We put an offer in and got pre-approval. We need to
resign the contract because they wanted to make some
changes. Should happen tomorrow.

Description
The Realtor photo.
Ranch style 3 bedroom 2 bathroom house. Partially refinished
basement. 1268 square feet. The back family room has windows on
3 sides and the lot has plenty of trees.
My attempts to make a sweeping vista
A floorplan. This should make understanding the next photos easier.
A shot through the house. From the living room to the dining
room to the family room. the guy in front is Phil, our Buyer's
Agent. Checkout the beautiful hardwood floors.
The reverse angle of the upper photo. No the walls aren't really
that pink. Say hi to Phil
again, while noting the beautiful cove ceilings.
A shot of the backroom. (Family room) The red looks a lot truer
to color now. Plus you can easily see the ceiling fan and
fireplace.
The kitchen. It is a bit small, but it is put together
incredibly well.
The upstairs bathroom is quite nice. It looks recently redone.
The basement is quite nice. The half that is redone looks
nice, and the second bathroom is down here. (Although not
visible in the picture.) Nice dual vanishing point, if I do
say so myself.
Picture of the backyard. Plenty of trees. You can see the fence
of our neighbor starting at the telephone pole.
Pictures of the amount of underbrush my family helped us remove
from the yard.
Close up of the bricks that make up the house.
A series of close up shots around the house. (Also shows off how
much stuff we have removed from the lot.
Repainted!! We agonized over the color choice. I think it looks better.
