This was one of the virtual caches, it was a display that was made of hand painted tiles.

Cave Rock
A neat Rock formation which you drive through (click on the image to see a bigger version), apparently it was/is a sacred place to the local indian tribes, during the summer there is a path you can take down to the cave.
|
Neat Tree
From the point where I took the Cave Rock photo there is also this tall shaply tree which looks to be growing directly out of rock.
|
Neat Tree Roots
The root of the tree. Doesn't seem like there is much soild for it.
|
Megan And Tree
Megan liked the tree so I got a picture of her with it.

Rain Shadow
I had heard about how mountains can cause a rain shadow (one side of the mountain gets lots of rain the other side is a desert) but hadn't seen the effects before. Here you can see it quite dramatically. The near mountain is brown and dried desert, while in the back you have snow capped mountain peaks (and on the far side of the mountain is 40-100 inches of accumulated snow.)
|
Desert Mountains.
And after seeing these snow capped peaks for several days, these brown dried out husks are really quite unsightly.
