Rain Shadow I had heard about how mountains can cause a rain shadow (one side of the mountain gets lots of rain the other side is a desert) but hadn't seen the effects before.Here you can see it quite dramatically. The near mountain is brown and dried desert, while in the back you have snow capped mountain peaks (and on the far side of the mountain is 40-100 inches of accumulated snow.)
